Dolní Bojanovice

The village of Dolní Bojanovice is situated in the fertile region of South Moravia westwards from the district town of Hodonín. The village was first mentioned in the deed of gift from 1196. A dominant feature of the village is the church of St.Wenceslas. A typical Moravian Cottage and three listed richcarved wooden crosses are worthy of mention. The village has mainly an agricultural character, with a focus on wine growing. The first written record of wine growing in the village dates back to 1505 and illustrates the long tradition in this field. The local folk traditions and habits are presented during the St. Wenceslas Feast and a small feast with a vintage festival. The St. Wenceslas Choir and Orchestra with about 80 members have a long tradition as well. In the village there are active also the brass bands Bojané, Šohajka and Liduška, the dulcimer bands Morava, Zádruha nad Grejcar as well as the country-music band Modrá pečeť. Concerning the events organized in the village the traditional Easter and Christmas exhibitions of pictures, carvings and photos, the Spring Music Festival and the Music Festival of St. Cecilia in November are noteworthy. A viticultural cycle path goes through this village which is a nice place to be visited when travelling through South Moravia.
Excellent wine - our visitors should taste the special Riesling of Bojanovice (that used to be delivered also at the Austrian emperor´s table) both in the above mentioned restaurants and in small private wine cellars.

Dubňany

The first written note about Dubňany comes from the year 1349. However, the village did not obtain the town priviledges until 1964 and there live about 6700 people in Dubňany at the present time.
Our town has quite eventful cultural life. There are several folklore ensembles concentrated at the community centre - the childrens´ folklore group Dubravěnka, the folklore group Dubrava, women´s group Drmolice and men´s choir,. These ensembles, together with the municipality, organise the traditional folk-costumed feast every second weekend in October.
Brass music has a long tradition in Dubňany as well - this kind of music is represented with two brass bands nowadays - Vonička and Přespolanka. Every third Sunday in August there takes place a well-known brass band festival called Pod slováckým vinohradem.
Dubňany offers many possibilities both for sportsmen and sport fans. Our visitors can use an athletic hall with a fitness centre, sauna, a bowling alley, squash, a hall for table tenis, sports grounds with grass and cinders ground and moreover probably the nicest and most popular summer swimming pool in the region.
A specific wine-growing area is the so-called Dubňanská hora where there are more than 200 wine cellars with vineyards. The wine that is grown here has a typical bouquet and flavour and it is very popular with wine lovers.
In the surroundings of Dubňany there have been uncovered archeological sights the best-known and biggest of which is found about 1,5 km NE from the local railway station. In September 1927 foundations of a Romanesque church from 13th century that burned down later were uncovered here. Human skeletons were found near the church.

Prušánky

The village is located in a shallow valley of the Prušánka brook, westwards from Hodonín at an altitude of 185 m between two hills - Nechory and Jochy - with an altitude of 207 m. The first written record of the village, then called Prusy, dates back to 1261. Prušánky has a historical connection with the nearby village of Čejkovice in whose parish Prušánky belonged. In the period of the Jesuit Suzerains there was a summer residence of the order in the village.
The favourable position of the fields - mainly Horní and Dolní Nechory -has led to the planting of vineyards. Besides large-scale wine production in agricultural companies there are also small wine producers. Wine is produced in a unique wine-cellar area called Nechory.
For several centuries there has been a traditional wine ceremony, called Zarážání hory, held on the first Saturday in September in the vineyards. A vintage feast takes place in the area of the wine-cellars in September.

Rohatec

According to medieval records the local people lived of fishing and crayfishing as it illustrates the mention of their duty to supply the lords in Strážnice with part of their haul. First documented note about the village comes from the second half of the 13th century. The owner of the village, Tvrdek from Rohatec, was one of witnesses mentioned at the document of the Bohemian King Přemysl Otakar II. from the year 1270. A small border fortification and a stony parish church used to stay in the village, only a small chapel still exists from that time. The catholic church in Rohatec has the name of our patron - St. Bartholomew. Modern times brought industry to the village. New house colonies Kolonie and Soboňky have grown in the surroundings of industrial facilities, both are now part of the village. Rohatec lies at the periphery of tle Slovácko wine region and the wineculture has a long tradition here, there are many large vineyards around the village. Josefov

Josefov, situated on the 9th km westwards from Hodonín was founded 1782 at the place of a former seigniorial farmyard that had been built at the place of the declined village of  Kukvice. It was first mentioned 1383 in connection with the church and the presbytery in Mikulčice. The village was burnt to the ground by the Hungarians in the 15th century, during 1468-1470. It was rebuilt before 1528 for the second time. Kukvice declined during the thirty-year-war. Some names of fields and vineyards commemorate Kukvice up to the present. At the place of the yard of Kukvice there was built a new village in the year 1782 that got the name Josefov to the honour of the emperor Joseph II. The inhabitants of the newly founded village of Josefov were exempt from compulsory labour which was quite unusual at that time.  It was an agricultural village with widespread viticulture. In the beginnings of its existence Josefov and Dolní Bojanovice made up a common self-governing village. There are 120 houses with 389 inhabitants in Josefov at the present time. A  part of the folk culture are traditional customs such as “Smrtnica” which is a traditional welcome of spring. There is also the traditional feast of Josefov in folk costumes and other cultural events. The oldest sight is the statue of St. Anna that was built 1760 at the expense of a shepherd who - according to a folk-tale - had found a gold hoard there.

Nový Poddvorov

The name of the present village of Nový Poddvorov commemorates the name of the declined small town of  Potvorov. This settlement was owned by the Cistercian monastery of Velehrad whose ownership was confirmed by the pope Alexander IV. in  the year 1261. The small town had a form of a horseshoe as all the old Slavonic settlements. Everything indicates that the declined small town of “Potvorov” was an important seat of our ancestors at that time. Only the name of the Kosteliska field  remained from that area up to the present time. No sooner than 1783 the present village of Nový Poddvorov was established under the reign of the emperor Joseph II. on the waste serf fields that were situated westwards from the town of Hodonín that is about 16  km far from here. The village has got its own seal where there is a ploughshare with a sitting lark graphically represented.  The soil quality has been very good in this area so the inhabitants of this newly founded village were active in agriculture and wine growing.   As for the infrastructure our village is equipped very well in spite of the small number of its inhabitants. Recently canalization and water and gas supply have been established here and the electric network has been reconstructed. The majority of productive inhabitants is  in agriculture while the others commute to work to the nearest surroundings or to the town of Hodonín. In our village a special attention is paid to wine growing. On appropriate locations the most intensive kinds of grapevine flourish and the local wine growers produce wine of very high quality of it that is required by demanding wine lovers from the whole Czech Republic. Our feast is held every last Sunday in August according to the customs and traditions of the local region.
